Hayao Miyazaki's animated fantasy leads Chinese box office

BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhua) -- "The Boy and the Heron," an animated fantasy film directed by Japanese animation guru Hayao Miyazaki, continued to lead the Chinese mainland's daily box office on Saturday, data from the China Movie Data Information Network showed.

The Oscar-winning animated film gained 43.33 million yuan (about 6.1 million U.S. dollars) in box office revenue on its eleventh screening day.

"Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire," the latest installment in the MonsterVerse film franchise, stayed at the second place with a daily earning of 34.56 million yuan.

It was followed the animated film "Kung Fu Panda 4" with a daily box office revenue of about 8.25 million yuan.

The Chinese mainland's box office revenue on the day totaled 120 million yuan. ■
